ARTIST INFORMATION

Birgitta Sundström Jansdotter (1966, Gavle, Zweden) started her career in 1994 in the north part of Sweden, where she put her name on the map with exhibitions in the Länsmuseum in Stockholm, the Bankgirot, the Väsby Konsthall and others. In 1999, she won the Byggnads culture prize and the Huddinge city culture prize. Since 2001, she has been working and living in Holland. Her works do not stay unnoticed here either: A recent exhibition at artist collective Pulchri in The Hague got her praise from the writing press and the 2007 Jacob Hartog art prize. Her work, that shows human faces and emotions in an astonishing simple way, are based on collages that she uses as a sketch. Magazines, photo’s and films; traces from all kinds of visual language find their way to her work.
