ARTIST INFORMATION
Pauline Bakker (1966 )
After graduating art school, Pauline Bakker specialized in the restoration of classical paintings. She learned all about the techniques the old masters used, from the colours to the structure of the painting. This classical background is clearly visible in her work. Bakker’s realistic paintings stand out because of their clean and intriguing atmosphere. The contrast of the classical cloudy skies and the minimal, almost geometrically shaped landscapes is an important characteristic of her work. Her most important painting so far is the painting she made for the Dutch city of Alkmaar. This triptych took her two years to make and measures 84m2.
