Lolke van der Bij (1949)

With his sculptures, Lolke van der Bij tries to reach the essence of simplicity. He tries to use as little details as possible to reflect an image or a feeling. He usually works in a geometrical abstractness. But also where he flirts with the figurative, sharp and clear shapes are characteristic for his style. Especially because he is very interested in reactions on his work, it is fascinating to see that in spite of their widely interpretable shapes they evoke similar feelings in almost every onlooker.
