ARTIST INFORMATION
Annemiki Bok
After graduating from the Rietveld Art Academy in Amsterdam, Annemiki Bok left the polders of Holland for the surroundings of the capricious Portuguese Algarve. She lived the sober life of a beginning artist, but because of the warm, sunny climate and the joy of life in the outdoors, her work never lost its joyful bright touch. In the early 90īs she returned to Holland, where this Portuguese frivolity mixed with the influence of Dutch traditions. There is a visible influence of Isaac Israels, Jacob Maris and Breitner to be found in her paintings. A work of Annemiki Bok is very recognizable because of the warm colors and the generous use of paint through which she lets her palette dance. The work is very expressive. It is not surprising that Annemiki Bok is also known as īthe artist of the colorful inner soulī.
