ARTIST INFORMATION
J. Carrero (1953)
Carrero studied at the School of Fine Arts of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando, Madrid. This artist paints memories from his fantasy. Memories that could have been real had he and his parents not left Granadilla, his town of birth that he still feels very attached to. The combination of fantasy and nostalgia give the paintings a special surrealistic quality that is recognized by many. Since his graduation in 1974, his work was exhibited in over fifty galleries and museums. His surrealistic works are on permanent exhibit in art galleries like the Museo Fujit in Tokyo and the Museums of Fine Art in Albacete, Santander and Badajoz. His works are part of many art collections both within Spain and abroad. He has won several prizes for his paintings and sculptures, among which the second prize in the National Art Exhibition in Madrid.
