Eric Jan van de Geer (1965)

After he studied to be a teacher in drawing and artcrafts, Eric Jan van de Geer did the Art Academy in Kampen, and the Masters degree for painting at the Frank Mohr Instituut in Groningen. His work is somewhere in between painting and photography: He starts with a picture of an everyday object, like a chair or a lamp. By printing different layers of paint on this pictures Van de Geer manages to disturb the original pictures and give it an ‘unheimisch’ quality. Recently, he started working with polaroids. With his work, Eric Jan van de Geer won the second prize in the 2002 European Biennale for graphic arts in Brugge. He got nominated for the Kwak & Van Daalen & Ronday graphics prize and the art prize of the council of the city Kampen. He exhibited in different galleries in Holland, France, Belgium and Germany.
