ARTIST INFORMATION

Marjolein van Haasteren (1967) exhibits regularly, not only in Holland, but also in Indonesia, Finland, France and Belgium. In her work, she tries to catch a moment of movement. That can be everything: A cityscape seen from the car, a playing child or a mountain ridge. To catch the speed and movement, Marjolein van Haasteren uses strong cuttings and distortions. Fierce colors, sharp contrasts of light and dark and hastily drawn lines register a moment in time. It is not her goal to tell a story: she wants to give the onlooker a glimpse at what struck her eye. It is the simple beauty of everyday life that fascinates her.
