ARTIST INFORMATION
Marianne van Hest paints magnolias, hostas and other flowers with enchanting colours and marvellous shapes. The works show the beauty of nature, but also its decay and briefness. At first sight, you see the beautiful flowers, but Marianne wants to show the short lifespan of beauty too. There is always a slight notion of change, decay or loss in her landscapes and floral still-lives. With the medium of paint, Marianne feels she can freeze that fast process of fading beauty. In her paintings, she can capture the moment of transformation. Nature changes from one season to the other before you realise. Marianne’s paintings give you the change to enjoy the blossoming spring a little longer.
