ARTIST INFORMATION
Hans Keuls (1956)
Besides his career as a painter, Hans Keuls is also a drummer. The influence of music on his work is evident in the rhythm of the layers of paint, the variety of light and dark and the way he uses his materials. The tension between action and passion on the one side and control and craftsmanship on the other leads to the harmonic structure of his paintings. In his quest for beauty, Hans is inspired by nature. Motives like leaves, flowers and snow come back in his works repeatedly. But one does not do justice to his work by just seeing landscapes in it. Like a 19th century Romantic painter he expresses in his canvasses the different feelings nature evokes in him.
