In 1995 she and her husband, Zuang Hong Yi, came to the Netherlands to go to the Academie Minerva at Groningen. Her work is shown in the Netherlands and abroad, for example at the Groninger Museum. Four years ago Lu Luo started working on her slowly expanding series of works inspired by the costumes of traditional Chinese opera. In her latest series she uses different kinds of material, like old Chinese fabrics, rice paper, traditional Chinese prints, ink, bee-wax, gel and acryl paint. All this material, mostly from China, is used in works of a meter and higher, where the form of traditional opera costumes can easily be discovered. With this recent serie, Lu Luo wants tot keep the traditional opera of the Chinese people and their beautifully handmade costumes alive.
