ARTIST INFORMATION

Karel Zijlstra (1958, Leeuwarden) is a graduated industrial designer, who has fully dedicated himself to the art of sculpting. Karel Zijlstra is fascinated by mythology and remains of ancient cultures. His bronze sculptures are largely inspired by Celtic and Medieval literature, such as the legends of King Arthur, the Holy Grail, Percival and Irish fairytales. Karel Zijlstra mixes his fascination with these classic tales with inspiration from his personal life, which gives his sculptures a classical and elegant, yet intimate charisma. His sculptures are regularly exhibited in galleries in Holland, Belgium, France, Germany, Spain and Portugal.
